Narrow aisle forklifts (VNA), also known as very narrow aisle trucks, are warehouse machines designed to operate in extremely narrow aisles. Using VNA equipment allows more efficient use of warehouse space and height. Alwark supplies two Linde series: A — for pallet handling in very narrow aisles, and K — for operations where one machine is used for both pallet handling and order picking. For lower racking systems, electric pallet stackers can be an alternative.
What is the difference between the K and A series?
The K Series are combined “man-up” forklifts, where the operator cab lifts together with the forks. They can be used both for pallet handling and order picking on high-level racks.
The A Series is designed for pallet handling in warehouses with narrow aisles. In these models, the operator works in a side-seated position.
If order picking represents a significant part of the operation, the K Series is usually selected. If the warehouse mainly handles full pallet flows, the A Series is more commonly chosen.
Are VNA forklifts suitable for cold storage facilities?
Yes. The K Series is available with a cab configuration designed for operation in cold storage environments at temperatures down to –30 °C, while the A Series offers an enclosed cab designed for use in cold areas.
When should you choose a VNA forklift and when a pallet stacker?
An electric pallet stacker is usually a more economical choice when racking heights are not too high and aisle widths allow the use of standard warehouse equipment. VNA forklifts are most commonly selected when maximum warehouse space utilisation, narrower aisles, or greater lifting heights are required. For comparison, it is also worth reviewing the specifications of electric pallet stackers.
